And, We're Off!!!!  Day one of the Bluegrass 1000 takes us to the northeast Kentucky from our starting point in Louisville.  We started with a welcome breakfast at Bill Collins Ford/Lincoln, our sponsor.  See the first post of this blog for background on why they do this each year.

Enter here for a scrumptious breakfast and wonderful welcome.

Eggs, hash browns, sausage, orange juice... these car guys eat well.

Hey, I am OFFICIAL!!!

The beginning of a day of two lane highways and superb views, despite the light rain.

Our fist stop was Sparta, Kentucky, home of the Kentucky Speedway.  If you enjoy NASCAR you've probably seen this place on TV.

The rain let up so they let us drive our cars to the winners circle for photos.

Then they let us drive on the track!!

Turn 4.... wheeeeeeee!

Dick's Porsche and Marc's lovely Jag XK...Dick wins!

Meet Eva and Bridget.  These lovely lasses are Paramedics assigned to the tour, just in case anyone is injured.  Nice to have them with us.

Hummm, line up a Morgan with a Ford Mustang and a Porsche and the British car looks pretty small.

Doug and Shannon brought this nice Trans-Am with a ram air induction system.   The car sounds really cool.

We ended the day with a nice dinner at a bistro in Louisville, just a couple of miles from our hotel.  We drove about 175 miles today plus the miles on the track.  The rain stopped long enough for us to enjoy the race track and lunch at a winery, then came back with strong rains the rest of the afternoon.  Rush hour traffic in Louisville was a struggle for us who were not familiar with the territory.

A good day in all.
